Why Preventive Maintenance Matters
Think of preventive maintenance as a regular health check-up for your car. Just like you’d visit the doctor to catch small issues before they become big problems, your vehicle needs regular attention to stay in top shape.
- Save Money in the Long Run: Small, affordable services now can prevent expensive repairs later.
- Extend Vehicle Life: Regular care keeps your car running smoothly for years to come.
- Maintain Warranty Coverage: Skipping scheduled maintenance might void your warranty.
- Improve Safety: Well-maintained vehicles are less likely to experience breakdowns or accidents.
What Does Preventive Maintenance Include?
Depending on your vehicle and driving conditions, preventive maintenance can vary. Here’s what we typically check:
- Oil and Filter Changes: Keep your engine lubricated and running efficiently.
- Fluid Levels: Brake, transmission, coolant, and power steering fluids need regular checks.
- Belts and Hoses: Prevent breakdowns by replacing worn belts and hoses before they fail.
- Brakes and Tires: Ensure optimal stopping power and grip on the road.
- Battery Health: Avoid getting stranded with a dead battery.
- Lights and Wipers: See and be seen, no matter the weather.
What Are Normal Service Intervals?
Each vehicle is different and checking your service manual can be a pain.. Give us a call and we will look it up for you. Here are the typical intervals:
- Winterization Checkup: These are generally for colder climates, going up north? It might be time.
- Spring Checkup: Check your AC to make sure you aren’t left sweating in the Arizona heat.
- Oil Change: Every 6 months or 5,000 miles. At Masterwerks we only use full synthetic oil to ensure the life of your vehicle.
- 7,500 Miles: This ensure you catch any issues with your new vehicle before they become a problem.
- 30,000 Miles: Comprehensive check of major systems including brakes, tires, fluids, filters, belts, and hoses
- 60,000 Miles: This is the same as the 30k check up but includes items like suspension, steering, and spark plugs
- 90,000 Miles: During this inspection more items are expected have have significant wear requiring replacement.
- Every 30,000 After: Every 30,000 miles a thorough inspection and replacement of wear parts ensures you vehicle lasts and lasts.
Are You Driving Under “Severe Conditions”?
Many drivers don’t realize that their daily commute might be considered “severe driving” by manufacturers. Factors that contribute include:
- Short Trips: Engines perform best during longer drives.
- Stop-and-Go Traffic: Common in city driving, increasing wear on your vehicle.
- Heavy Loads: Towing or carrying heavy cargo puts extra strain on components.
- Extreme Temperatures: Phoenix’s hot summers can be tough on your car.
- Dusty or Salty Environments: Dust can clog filters, and salt can cause corrosion.
If any of these apply to you, you might need more frequent maintenance. Not sure? We’re happy to help you figure it out.
